Woman kidnapped, vehicle stolen from truck stop

BEAUMONT — Police are still searching for an armed culprit who has stolen a vehicle and kidnapped a woman.

The Beaumont Police Department is searching for a black man who was reported to have stolen a red 2008 Dodge 3500 dually before 5:30 a.m., Thursday, from the Petro Truck Stop, located in the 5400 block of Walden Road in Beaumont.

Police say the unidentified black man, who was described as having a dark complexion, in his mid-30s, weighing 190 to 200 pounds and 5’10” to 6’0” tall.

Ivan Battle, a 45-year-old man from Houston, called 911 at approximately 5:20 a.m. to report his truck had been stolen and his friend had been kidnapped by a man carrying a handgun. The victim, described as a 33-year-old Hispanic woman from San Antonio, is approximately 5’ 5” tall, weighs 130 to 140 pounds, has shoulder-length black hair and was wearing blue jeans and a turquoise jacket at the time of the incident.

One report said Battle and his friend were traveling from Houston to Lake Charles, La. to go to a casino but had stopped at Petro Truck Stop to use the restroom.

The Beaumont Police Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for the Dodge truck and the woman involved in the reported aggravated kidnapping. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 409-832-1234.
