Newton couple wins new truck from First Financial

ORANGE — Winning a new 2014 Ford truck was as easy as swiping debit card for Robin Kirby. Literally.

Robin Kirby, and his wife, Ashley, won a new truck from First Financial Bank and the Orange County Car Crew recently after being selected from a contest where the only requirement was to use your check card. The Kirbys picked up their new 2014 Ford truck on Friday morning at the First Financial Bank location on 16th Street in Orange.

According to Stephen Lee, CEO and president of First Financial Bank in Orange, the contest began on January 1, 2014 and continued through the end of March. Robin, an employee with Southeast Texas Industries, was selected as the winner on April 1.

“Robin was a bit skeptical when I first called him to tell him he had just won a brand new truck from First Financial Bank,” Lee said with a laugh. “He just didn’t buy it at first. He tried everything he could to figure out if it was a scam or not. It was on April 1, which is April Fool’s Day, so it’s understandable. I sent him the contest information and after about five hours, Robin called back and was very excited.”

Robin and his wife, Ashley, were both very excited to claim their new prize. A man of few words on Friday morning, Robin said his decision on which truck to select was actually very easy.

“I’m a Ford man, through and through,” he said.

The contest was a joint effort between First Financial Bank and the Orange County Car Crew, which is comprised of David Self Ford, Granger Chevrolet, Cecil Atkisson Dodge and Cecil Atkisson Toyota.
