The Orange Leader
United Network Involving The Youth (UNITY) held it’s first meeting on Saturday.
Reverend Anthony Jackson with Mt. Zion Missionary Church, 512 John Street, wants to provide a coalition between services available in the area and to create services that are needed to assist the youth.
“Our youth get out in the world, made mistakes, but they are still salvageable,” Jackson said. “There is nothing in place when the want help.”
The meeting helped answer questions for what UNITY plans to provide for the community.
Reverend Janice Netherly said there is an urgent need for this type of program in the area.
“Everyone knows the problem,” Netherly said. “It is time for a solution.”
Jackson said UNITY is in need of sincere committed volunteers for UNITY.
The next meeting, time and date unannounced, will concentrate on forming the coalition.
“Someone once told me that even if building a castle, you have to take the first step,” Jackson said.
