Book and plant sale to be held Saturday

BRIDGE CITY — The Friends of the Bridge City Public Library will be hosting a book and plant sale from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturday, April 13, in the Bridge City Walgreen’s parking lot.

Many of the plants include bedding plants, house plants and a large amount of Sego palms and day lilies. Book selections include hardbacks by popular authors, cookbooks, self-help, science fiction, biographies, children’s, videos, DVD’s and music CD’s. Donated books can be dropped off at the library at 101 Parkway as late as noon, Friday, April 12. Plant donations will be taken only at 8:30 a.m. at the Walgreen’s parking lot sales location.

In conjunction with the book and plant sale, orders can be placed through the Flower Power catalogue sales which includes many popular flowering plants that can be ordered and delivered in April. Among the selections of this catalogue are many varieties of lilies, gladiolas, dahlias and summer flowering bulbs.

At the Book and Plant sale you may also purchase for the First Annual Literary Feast, with an author’s forum, including local authors Frances Collins and Chester Moore, Jr. Ticket price includes spaghetti dinner, and a silent auction will also be held. Applications for membership in the Friends are available to anyone wishing to help with the fundraising completion of the current library expansion project.

The Bridge City Public Library is located at 101 Parkway in Bridge City. Library hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Wednesday; 1 p.m. - 7 p.m., Thursday; and 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Friday. Call 409-735-4242 for info.
