ORANGE — Garage sale

The Fraternal Order of Eagles, 803 N. 28th Street, has scheduled a garage sale from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26. It will be held inside with large items displayed outside. Indoor Garage Sale

The Heroines of Jericho will hold a Giant Indoor Garage Sale and Bake Sale on Saturday, Jan. 26, inside the Gate City Masonic Lodge No. 31, 1017 Mill at John St. in Orange. The event will be held rain or shine and the early bird gets the worms!

Open House

St. Mary Catholic School, 2600 Bob Hall Road in Orange, has an Open House scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013. Inflatables will be available for children to enjoy. For information or to schedule a tour of the school call Principal, Denise Willingham at 409-883-8913.

Deacons/Trustees Program

The Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church is having its Deacons and Trustee’s Program at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 27. Our theme is “Chosen Vessels to Accomplish God’s Purpose” Acts 6:1-7. Our guest speaker will be Pastor Bruce Garner, Pastor of Bright Star Baptist Church, Florien, La.

Taste of Texas

The Taste of Texas will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 2. Vendor tables and contestant tables are available for $20 each. Think you can cook? Enter your best dish or dessert. Call 409-330-0034 for info or to reserve a spot.

Black History Month Kickoff

St. Paul Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 1201 N. 4TH St. in Orange, Texas. Cordially invite you to share on Sunday Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. as we kick- off Black History Month with a salute to Texas College and local Alumni. Texas College is supported by and affiliated with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

Relay for Life Team Captain meetings

The Orange County Relay for Life will begin holding monthly Team Captain meetings on Monday, Jan. 28. The Team Captain meetings will be held at the Lamar State College – Orange Wilson Building, Room 101. The Jan. 28 meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Additional team captain meetings are scheduled for: Feb. 25, March 25 and April 22. All Team Captain meetings are directed at planning for the Orange County Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, which will be held May 3 – 4, 2013 at Bridge City High School from 6:30 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. This year’s theme is “A Little Bit of Texas, A Whole Lot of Hope.” Individuals or teams interested in becoming involved with this event are invited to attend the meeting and register on-line at www.OrangeCountyRelay.org
