ORANGE — A new author tells the tale of the Whitechapel Ripper in his first book.

H.R. Underwood spent ten years researching and writing The Knackerman, a novel based on one of the suspects in the Jack the Ripper case.

“I was always interested in the case,” Underwood said in a phone interview. “In the late 90s, I realized a novel had never been written and would add an interesting twist.”

Underwood who calls Texas home, writes under a pseudonym.

Underwood said he is already researching his second book based on the Kennedy assassination.

“It will be more a research type book,” Underwood said.

Underwood said he choose to wait until he was retired to pursue publication of his first book.

The Knackerman, A Tale of the Whitechapel Ripper, was released Sept. 1, 2012 by Trafford Publishing.
