Another round of strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon and evening, with the highest threat east of a Lake Charles to Alexandria line, to include all of Acadiana.
Warning Coordination Meteorologist of the National Weather Service Lake Charles Roger Erickson said Orange County threat is on the low end.
“The first storm is a possibility of showers,” Erickson said. “There will be a possibility of isolated damaging winds and hail.”
A press release from the National Weather Service said a cool and dry weekend is on tap, with lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s.
Another cold front next week, Monday-Wednesday, could stall out in our vicinity and cause an extended period of rain, and there could be a threat for severe thunderstorms as well. Forecaster confidence is low on the exact timing and duration of this event.
“The second possibility of a storm is harder to pinpoint this far out,” Erickson said. “That storm also shows the possibility of damaging winds.”
