In other Commissioners Court business

ORANGE — Changes are underway for the Ike Round 2.2 Grant.

Grant Administrator David Waxman suggested removing a planning study from the project and moving the funds towards street improvement.

“The cost of materials is going up,” Waxman told Commissioners Court on Monday.

No costs have been incurred for the study.

Waxman said it was better to move it now rather than later.

“We do it now so as to not have to cut out someone’s road later,” Waxman said.

Mosquito Control District Director Patrick Beebe presented the court with reduced cost of replacement items as previously requested by the court during a recent budget workshop.

“We have had a dry year with low mosquitoes until this last week and a half,” Beebe said. “At this reduced price, I am requesting to purchase the items from unused funds this year so it can be removed from next years budget.”

The court approved the request and transferred funds from line item Aerial Spraying Chemicals to Machine and Equipment for $6,900.

The items to be replaced are a lawnmower, light traps and a copy machine.

The court was also asked to sign the certificate of construction completion for the Orange County Convention and Expo Center.

A Certificate of Completion is a document which is completed by a contractor or engineer which states that certain construction has been completed and in accordance with the detailed specifications of the underlying agreement.

“This is the paperwork to get everything started,” Maintenance Director Mark Wimberley said. “It is going to take a couple of months to check everything on the list. But we can add to the list tomorrow if we need be.”
