BBVA Compass Bank digging in the dirt at The Giving Field

BEAUMONT — BBVA Compass Bank is teaming up with The Giving Field on Liberty Street to feed the hungry of Southeast Texas.

Employees from the area BBVA branches will spend the day at The Giving Field constructing two 5ft x 30ft raised vegetable beds starting at 8 a.m. on March 27. These beds are being generously sponsor by BBVA Compass. The beds will be the first in the west section of the one acre property that will be built out over the months of March and April. When the west section is completed there will be 10 raised beds in the west section.

The Giving Field currently has 33 raised beds that were built on October 13, 2012.  Since that date the 33 raised beds have produced over 1000 pounds of fresh, organic vegetables that have been delivered to Some Other Place soup kitchen in Beaumont and The Hospitality Center in Port Arthur.

In addition to building two raised beds, the BBVA Compass group will be planting some of the summer crops that will help to feed the hungry year round.

This is another great example of the community of Southeast Texas coming together to serve the hungry in our area.
