ORANGE — Several expired food items and dead roaches lead to Shell Food Mart, 3118 Edgar Brown Drive in Orange, to receive an 86 out of a possible 100 during a recent health inspection. The business also received demerits for no hot water inside the rest room and the walls and floors of the walk-in cooler in need of being cleaned of dust and trash.

Zuniga’s Mexican Food located at 1925 Texas Ave. in Bridge City was given thirty days to have a certified food manager on staff. The restaurant received a 90 out of a possible 100 during the inspection. Other demerits for the business include raw chicken being stored above produce and the area around the vents above the fryers and grill in need of being cleaned.

Air filters being stored above paper goods and repairs needed to a three compartment sink, floors and walls in a walk-in cooler led to Sonic #5783 located at 2210 State Hwy. 62 in McLewis to receive a 91 out of a possible 100 during a routine inspection.

Jr’s Mini Mart is now known as Star Stop #2 located at 5320 North Main Street in Vidor. The business changed owners in November. The business received a 93 out of a possible 100 during a recent inspection for areas around the fryers in need of being cleaned an the need to have the store name and address on bags of ice sold.

An employee drink in with foods to be sold to the public led to Domino’s Pizza located at 7166 North State Hwy. 87 in Orange to receive a 93 out of a possible 100 during the inspection. The report also noted the floors inside a walk-in cooler are in need of repairs.

Roman’s 8.31 Italian Restaurant located at 10383 in Mauriceville received a 97 during a routine inspection for dishes found in the hand-washing sink.

Sonic Drive Inn located at 1265 Texas Ave. in Bridge City also received a 97 out of a possible 100 for in need of cleaning grease in the kitchen/prep areas.

Subway #7114 located at 1090 Texas Ave. in Bridge City was notified of the need to post the 2014 Food Service Permit and the Certified Food Manager Certificate during  a recent inspection. The Restaurant received a 97 out of a possible 100 for the ice scoop laying in the ice at the drive-thru window and the ice scoop laying n  top of the ice machine in the back storage room.

Taco Bell #2680 located at 835 Texas Ave. in Bridge City received a 97 out of a possible 100 during a recent inspection for the need to repair or replace a storage rack above the three compartment sink. The Restaurant was also notified the need to post the Certified Food Manager Certificates.

Shelves inside the milk cooler in need of being cleaned of old milk prevent Dollar General #12697 located at 1752 State Hwy. 12 in Vidor from a perfect score. The business received a 97 out of a possible 100.

Honey Stop #2 located at 1012 West Park in Orange was cleared to reopen.
