Pinehurst to sell surplus items online

Pinehurst city officials are once again auctioning off surplus equipment, but this year the auction is not only silent but also online.

Officials think the internet auction will reach more people and that they will be able to receive more money for the items.

The city of Pinehurst will be offering for sale five items to the general public. Auction services will be provided by Rene Bates Auctioneers, Inc. in McKinney.

Rene Bates Auctioneers provides internet auction services to cities, counties and school districts across the State of Texas, and recently assisted the City of Orange with equipment sales, according to Robert Ewart, Pinehurst city administrator.

The auction will continue from now up until 10 p.m. on Decemeber 1.

Interested individuals on the items may register and place a bid on this equipment and/or equipment offered by a number of other governmental entities by accessing the Rene Bates website at www.renebates.com.

A link is also provided on the City of Pinehurst website. Condition, location and contact information for scheduling inspection of the equipment offered will be included on the auction website.

Equipement for sale by the city of Pinehurst includes a trailer mounted oil distributor, 1999 Dixie Chopper, 1975 Ford garbage truck,1991 Eager Beaver chipper and a1993 Gradall excavator.

“Most the equipment is not operable and needs work,” Ewart said. “All items are offered as is and where is.”

The money collected will go into the Pinehurst general fund.
