Orange man dies after jumping out of moving vehicle

A 25-year-old Orange man was killed after he jumped from a moving vehicle about 2 a.m. Saturday.

According to information from the Orange Police Department, emergency personnel responded to the 300 block of Border Street. Christopher Raymond Busby was front seat passenger in a 2001 GMC pickup truck when he jumped out of the moving vehicle driven by who was thought to be Carrie Laughlin, a twenty-three year old white female also of Orange.

Busby was transported to Baptist Hospital-Orange. He died as a result of the injuries he received from the incident.

Precinct 4 Judge Rodney Price has ordered an autopsy. Preliminary autopsy reports indicated he died from head injuries.

Also in the vehicle at the time of the incident was 19-year-old Joseph Sumrall. Initially, the driver was reported to be Carrie Laughlin. However, officers determined later it was actually Sherrie LeBouf Busby, 23, of Orange. During the course of the investigation, it was learned she presented a false identification during the initial phases because she had outstanding warrants.

Busby held herself out to be her twin sister and provided identifying information as such. Criminal charges regarding her having provided false information regarding her true identity are being considered.

This case remains under investigation by the Orange Police Department.

There is not any new information regarding the events specific to the fatality. Information regarding whether or not alcohol or drugs may have been factor are pending the return of toxicology tests.
