Early voting concluded on Friday across Orange County and nearly 2,000 voters turned out after a slow start.
According to information provided by the Orange County Election Adminstration office, 1,848 ballots were submitted through the 10 day early voting period, with nearly 1,200 of those ballots coming in the last five days.
A total of 439 ballots were submitted at the Orange Public Library during the 10 day period, with only 79 ballots received in the first five days.
In Bridge City, a total os 184 ballots were submitted in early voting, but only 55 ballots were tallied in the first week.
In Vidor, the Raymond Gould Community Center had 347 voters submit ballots during the 10 day early voting period, which is a major increase after only 52 ballots were received during the first five days.
In Mauriceville, at First Baptist Church, a total of 164 ballots were received during this year's early voting period. Of that total only 41, exactly 25 percent, was received during the first week.
The election office received a total of 714 ballots through the U.S. mail this year, and, of that total, 452 ballots arrived during the first five days of early voting.
Election day is Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Look for a list of topics and voting locations in Tuesday's edition of The Orange Leader.
