Early voting ends today

Early voting numbers increased dramatically on Wednesday signaling voters are now ready to be heard. Today is the last day for early voting.

According to information provided by the Orange County Election Administration, a total of 244 ballots were submitted either in person or by mail on Wednesday bringing the eight day total to 1,229 ballots.

A total of 73 ballots were submitted Wednesday at the Orange Public Library, not at the County Courthouse as previously reported, which brings the eight day total to 226 ballots received at this site. Wednesday was the largest traffic day at this location.

In Vidor, at the Gould Community Center, 66 ballots were submitted on Wednesday, which is more than one-third of the eight day total of 192 ballots submitted thus far.

A total of 38 ballots were received Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Mauriceville, more than double the daily high at this location through eight days. A total of 105 ballots have been received through Wednesday.

Another 31 ballots were received at the Public Works building in Bridge City on Wednesday, which brings the eight day total to 107 ballots.

Another 36 ballots were received at the Orange County Election Administration building on Wednesday, which brings the eight day total to 599 ballots received through the U.S. Mail.

Early voting continues today and concludes Friday at all early voting sites. Election day is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday.

For Newton County residents, including those in Deweyville, the early voting location is at the Deweyville Community Center on Spur 272. Registered voters in Newton County precincts 10, 11, 13 and 21 may vote at this location.
