BC Bank branch prepares move to new location

ORANGE — It’s all about location, location, location, and, for one local bank, the time is right for a move to a new location.

The Orange branch of Bridge City Bank, currently located on 16th Street, will move to its new location at 57 Strickland Drive by mid-October. According to Jerry Davidson, bank president, until then, customers can continue banking at the current branch and expect the same professional service as always.

“We’re celebrating our 50th year as a bank this year, and it just happens that we are moving to our new branch location in a couple of weeks,” Davidson said. “It was decided some time ago that we could build a location for what we spent on leasing the Orange branch, so that’s what we decided to do.”

The new location, on Strickland Drive next to Guadalajara restaurant, is near MacArthur Drive and both roads allow for high traffic volume.

“One reason for the move, besides owning our own building, is definitely more visibility,” Davidson added. “Also, the current branch is actually much more building than what we needed. We don’t even occupy 60 percent to 70 percent of the bottom floor.”

Bridge City Bank opened its Orange location on Sept. 29, 1997, and now, after 12 years, is preparing to continue serving its customers with the same service they have come to expect.

“We’ll still be a full service bank like we always have,” Davidson said. “Our Saturday banking has been discontinued since Hurricane Ike, but once we open the new location, we will resume Saturday banking from 9 a.m. to noon. Plus, we will have a new ATM at the new branch giving customers and area residents another option.”

Davidson said he expects the new branch location to open on Oct. 13, if all goes as expected. The move from the 16th Street location to the one on Strickland Drive will be conducted over the weekend prior to opening so as not to disrupt banking service or inconvenience customers.
