Vidor senior beaten during home invasion

An elderly Vidor man was reportedly beaten by burglars early Wednesday morning after two suspects entered his home while he slept

According to reports from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a 911 call about 12:50 a.m. from the victim’s daughter. The woman reported her father was assaulted while trying to stop the suspects from burglarizing his home.

A press release issued by the OCSO Wednesday said the victim received injuries to the upper portion of his body. He was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital-Beaumont and is listed in stable condition, according to authorities.

Investigators worked throughout the day questioning witnesses in reference to the burglary and assault. About 3:30 p.m., two men who are believed to be “persons of interest” were arrested on unrelated charges. They had not been officially charged or arraigned for the burglary and assault charges as of press time.

Detectives are continuing to follow up on additional leads and are still interviewing witnesses.
