Orange Salvation Army welcomes new leadership

The Salvation Army of Orange recently announced the appointment of Majors John and Linda Queener as the new Salvation Army commanding officers in Orange. Majors Queener follow Majors Brian and Loretta Gilliam, who are now serving at The Salvation Army Texas Divisional Headquarters in Dallas.

Prior to becoming Salvation Army officers, Majors Queener were no strangers to the services The Salvation Army provides. Both of their families received assistance from The Salvation Army's social services when they were children, and both became involved in The Salvation Army's church and other programs.

“The people at The Salvation Army made me feel so much at home,” said Major Linda Queener about her experience as an 11-year-old with The Salvation Army's after-school program.

Now Majors Queener have had the opportunity to help others as Salvation Army officers in multiple cities, including Longview and Irving in Texas, and Lafayette, La. And that is one of their favorite aspects of being officers - loving people and helping people, Major John Queener said.

“Everything we do is a ministry,” Major Linda Queener said. “It doesn't matter if it's giving out a bag of beans, or letting a child play basketball in the gym.”
