Capital murder indictment returned against Martin Fox

The Orange County grand jury recently met and returned a capital murder indictment against Martin Edward Fox, 43, of Vidor.

Fox is accused of shooting his estranged wife, Candy Renee Fox, 27, and her friend, 27-year-old Christina Marie Adams at 4575 East Railroad in Vidor. Martin Fox had reportedly been waiting for them to return. When they arrived he allegedly opened fire with a revolver striking the women in their head and chest areas as they sat in the vehicle.

The Foxes’ 17-year-old son, who was reportedly a witness to the shooting escaped unharmed by running away from the scene.

Martin Fox later turned himself into the Vidor Police Department. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Orange County Jail.

Other indictments returned included:

• Christopher Jon Hall, 29, Vidor, aggravated sexual assault- Hall is accused of sexually assaulting a child;

• Ryan Joseph Laughlin, 21, Vidor, sexual assault- Laughlin is accused of sexually assaulting a child;

• Daniel Victor Bonner, 21, Bridge City, aggravated sexual assault- Bonner is accused of sexually assaulting a child;

• Paul Anthony Young, 29, Orange, theft burglary of a vehicle- Young is accused of having at least two prior convictions for burglary of a vehicle and breaking into another vehicle and stealing property;

• Peter Lynn Campbell, 32, Vidor, burglary of a building- Campbell is accused of breaking into a church with the intent to steal property;

• Charlotte Ann Rodriguez, 44, Vidor, securing a document by deception- Rodriquez is accused of lying about her assets in order to obtain excessive welfare benefits;

• Mary Ellen McDaniel, 39, Orange, securing a document by deception- McDaniel is accused of lying about her household income in order to obtain excessive welfare benefits;

• Jesus Vargas Jr., 43, San Benitos, felony driving while intoxicated- Vargas is accused of having at least two prior convictions of driving while intoxicated and being arrested for the same offense;

• Jimmy Darrell Lyon, 50, Vidor, felony driving while intoxicated- Lyon is accused of having at least two prior convictions of driving while intoxicated and being arrested for the same offense.
