Members of the West Orange Volunteer Fire Department will spend part of their Independence Day not only assisting in emergency situations if needed, but helping in the fight against neuromuscular diseases.
The West Orange Volunteer Fire Department will brave the Fourth of July heat as they hope to fill their boots with donations from kind individuals in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, located at 3115 Edgar Brown Drive in West Orange.
Since 1954, Fill-the Boot campaigns have served as the primary way firefighters across the United States have raised approximately $200 million to help the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in its fight against neuromuscular diseases.
Proceeds raised during the Fill-the-Boot campaign will help support the MDA research programs and services, including the purchase of medical equipment, clinic visits, support groups and even sending children to summer camp.
Help the West Orange Volunteer Fire Department and the MDA assist local families with neuromuscular diseases this Saturday at Wal-Mart in West Orange. Contact the MDA office in Beaumont at 409-838-4545 for more information about the Fill-the-Boot campaign or other MDA programs.
