Orangefield ISD makes administration changes

ORANGEFIELD It’s been a busy summer in the Orangefield Independent School District.

Since the end of the 2008-2009 school year in May, there have been multiple changes in the Orangefield ISD administration ranks.

Philip Welch, OISD superintendent, said all administration positions within the district have now been filled and the district is getting down to the business of preparing for the coming 2009-2010 school year.

Brian Ousley most recently served as Orangefield Junior High principal, but has been promoted to the position of Director of Support Services for Orangefield ISD. Ousley replaces long time employee Charles Donnaud who retired.

Replacing Ousley as principal of Orangefield Junior High is Shawn Clubb, who was previously the Buna High School assistant principal.

Joining Clubb at Orangefield Junior High is Joe Martin, who will be the new assistant principal at the campus.

Welch also said the district has hired Donna Darby, who recently worked for the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District, as the new Special Education Counselor.

Probably the biggest news of the summer for Orangefield ISD came at the end of May when Blake Morrison, Orangefield ISD Athletic Director and head football coach at Orangefield High School, announced he was leaving to take the defensive coordinator position at Coldspring High School.

The Board of Trustees moved quickly to find a replacement and officially hired Brian Huckabay as the Bobcats new football coach and Athletic Director in mid-June.

Welch said the district recently created a new position, Attendance Officer, to help improve student attendance during the school year. Chad Jenkins, who is also an agriculture teacher in the school district, will also serve as the district’s new attendance officer starting with the coming school year.
