Storm system blamed for county-wide outages

From staff reports

A line of thunderstorms rolled across Southeast Texas Tuesday afternoon dropping sheets of rain and causing numerous power outages.

According to Mike Rodgers, an Entergy spokesperson, approximately 2,500 customers were without power in Orange, Bridge City and Vidor before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Rodgers said the Biway Substation, which helps provide power to portions of the county, went down at 4:30 p.m. and was restored shortly after 5 p.m.

Rodgers said the power outages were “fairly scattered and all storm related.”

Thunderstorms are predicted to continue through the end of the day Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service-Lake Charles, there is a 40 percent chance of showers Wednesday, with highs in the upper 80s and a low around 73.

Looking ahead, no showers were predicted throughout the rest of the week and into the weekend. High temperatures, however, are expected to climb back into the low 90s once again as the chance for rain dwindles.
