The Orange County grand jury met this week and returned an indictment against Cory Lee Gaspard, 28, of Groves, for felony burglary of a vehicle.
According to reports from the Orange Police Department, at about noon on February 24, officers met with a woman at the Flying J truck stop who reported she was at the gas pump when she was approached by a man wanting to sell some shrimp. The woman stated she told the man she was not interested and he walked away from her.
She reported that after she finished fueling her vehicle she turned away from it to hang the nozzle back on the pump. As she turned back around she saw the same man walking away from her vehicle. She then entered her vehicle and noticed her purse was missing and the passenger door was ajar.
By the time she noticed the purse missing, the man had gotten into a nearby vehicle and was driving away.
The man was later identified as Gaspard. He had two prior convictions for burglary of a vehicle when he allegedly stole the purse from the woman’s vehicle.
Other indictments returned include;
• Shannon Alan Harrington, 21, Vidor, theft of a firearm- Harrington is accused of stealing a firearm;
• Anthony Wayne Arinder, 31, Evadale, tampering with a governmental record - Arinder is accused of signing a traffic ticket using someone else’s name;
