Two challengers for two open seats for Orange City Council

Two seats are open for new council members on the Orange City Council.

Incumbent Deborah Mitchell, Place 4, will fight to retain her seat. She is being challenged by William Whitney Mello.

In Place 4, incumbent Jimmy Sims will take on Elgin Holt Browning.

Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters eager to cast their vote can do so at Anderson School located at 902 W. Park, North Early Learning Center located at 801 Cordrey, Little Cypress Intermediate School located at 2300 Allie Payne or the Salvation Army located at 1950 N. MLK Drive.

Following the election and council members are seated, they will continue to take a look at the recovery process from Hurricane Ike.So far, council members have been working on retaining funding to recover from Ike. They may also work on preparations for the upcoming hurricane season.

With the upcoming end of the fiscal year, council members will also be working on the budget.
