Three Vidor teenagers hurt in Thursday night accident

Three Vidor teenagers were injured in a Thursday night accident on FM 105 at Corbett Street, just north of Interstate 10 on Vidor’s north side.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Phil Brady, an allegedly intoxicated driver pulled out in front of a Saturn driven by Vidor High student Jared Parker. The allegedly intoxicated driver was uninjured, Brady said; however, Parker and the vehicle’s two other occupants — Justin Chandler and Clinton Graves — all suffered injuries.

The teens are all involved in Vidor High School athletics, Chandler and Graves in basketball and Parker in track.

Vidor High School athletic director Jeff Mathews told the Leader that Parker broke two bones in his arm, while Chandler was to have surgery Saturday morning to have a rod implanted in his leg.

Mathews also said Graves, who was in the back seat of the vehicle, was in critical condition and that a neurologist was being brought in to evaluate him.

“We’re just waiting and praying right now,” Mathews said.
