An Evadale man died as a result of his injuries after he was involved in a one vehicle accident about 7:40 p.m. Sunday.
Glen Ray Vincent, 48, was driving his 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle north in the 8400 block of FM 1130, more commonly known as Stephenson’s Curve, when he failed to drive in a single lane of traffic. The motorcycle left the roadway and entered the ditch and turned sideways, striking a culvert. Vincent was then thrown from the motorcycle, according to reports from the Orange Police Department.
He was transported by helicopter to a Beaumont hospital where he later died.
Man returns to the source after his money was
confiscated
Two one hundred dollar bills were reportedly confiscated Friday afternoon from a man at a local bank when he tried to get change. The teller at the bank suspected the bills were counterfeit and went to the branch manager for assistance. The branch manager informed the man the bills were counterfeit and would not be returned back to him. The man reportedly informed the manager he had received the bills when he cashed his check from Red’s Liquor on Green Ave, according to reports from the Orange Police Department.
A short time later, OPD was informed of a disturbance at the liquor store. Officers responded to the scene and spoke with the man and he was released from the scene.
According to reports, the bills had the same serial number on both bills. One of the bills was torn in half and the officer noted in his report he observed the back side of the bill to be copied from a previous bill and both bills appeared to be counterfeit.
Man hears his vehicle drive away— but he’s inside his house
A man reported to police he was inside his residence about 1 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of North Lutcher when he heard his 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe being started and driven away.
The man was unable to locate his keys inside his residence. He reported to police a man he only knew as “Duke” came to his residence and asked to spend the night, but the man refused, according to reports.
About 30 minutes later, an officer spotted the vehicle in the 1600 block of 10th Street. The officer activated his emergency lights and after traveling a short distance, the vehicle was stopped in the 1200 block of Hart Street, according to reports.
The driver stepped out of the vehicle and stood by the door. When ordered to get on the ground, the suspect then allegedly took off running west over the railroad tracks. The officer lost sight of the suspect, but then saw him hiding under a Dodge pickup. The officer pulled out his Taser and ordered the suspect to get out from under the pickup and to stay on the ground, according to reports.
However, he reportedly crawled out from the opposite side of the officer and got up on his knees. The officer said in his reports, he believed the suspect was about to flee so he activated his Taser. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Orange County Jail. The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Brian Golden. He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and misdemeanor evading detention.
