Houston, TX – Compass Bank today announced that in the wake of Hurricane Ike it is waiving all access fees to its ATMs in the Houston area, East Texas, Central Texas and San Antonio so that residents can gain immediate access to cash to meet their hurricane recovery needs. This waiver applies to all non-customers of Compass Bank, as Compass Bank does not charge its customers ATM access fees.

This waiver does not apply to any fees the customer’s bank may charge.

Additionally, all Compass Bank branches in San Antonio and Austin are collecting non-perishable items to aid in the relief effort.

“Houston residents are dealing with the ramifications of storm damage and many have fled to Austin and San Antonio shelters, so we believe it’s appropriate to let them know they can turn to the Compass Bank ATMs and not worry about access fees,” said Shelaghmichael Brown, Senior Executive Vice President of Retail Banking. “In times like this, every dollar counts. It is important to us that Compass Bank do all that we can to help those in the communities in which we live and work.”

The ATM fees waiver at all Compass Bank and BBVA Compass branded ATM machines in the Houston area, East Texas and Central Texas, including San Antonio, began Saturday, September 13, 2008 and will continue until further notice. It is important to note that ATMs require electrical power to operate. Further, in East Texas, Compass Bank’s branches and ATMs are branded BBVA Compass.

Below is a list of cities where ATM access fees are being waived. For a complete list of all Compass Bank locations and freestanding ATM machines, log on to www.compassbank.com or call 1-800-COMPASS (266-7277).
