Most Orange County hoop teams will look to bounce back from a tough night Friday by notching important district wins tonight.
In District 21-3A play tonight, Orangefield will welcome the West Orange-Stark Mustangs in a pivotal matchup.
The Bobcats (12-7, 1-2) fell to Hardin-Jefferson 76-32 on Friday night. Carl Wiley led the Bobcat attack with 12 points while Mason Sonnier chimed in with eight.
The Mustangs (13-8, 2-0) had a bye on Friday.
The Bridge City Cardinals (10-10, 1-1) look to bounce back from a 84-38 loss at the hands of first-place Silsbee (15-7, 3-0) when they play host to the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns (8-13, 1-2). Bryce Sampere led the Cardinals with 22 points against Silsbee. H-F took down Buna (12-9, 0-3) 74-60 on Friday.
H-J (23-2, 1-1) will visit Buna tonight while Silsbee has its bye.
In District 20-4A play, both the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears (9-13, 0-3) and Vidor Pirates (5-13, 0-3) will be seeking their first 20-4A wins in a pair of tough road games in Beaumont.
The Bears will visit Ozen (10-9, 2-1) while the Pirates venture to Central (16-4, 3-0). In other 20-4A action tonight, Nederland (17-6, 3-0) will head to Mid-County rival Port Neches-Groves (7-12, 2-1) and Lumberton (7-17, 1-2) will play host to Livingston (8-10, 1-2).
In girls 21-3A play, the Orangefield Lady Bobcats (11-9, 3-2) will look to bounce back from a 71-31 loss at the hands of first-place Hardin-Jefferson when they visit West Orange-Stark to take on the Lady Mustangs (1-3 in district). WO-S had a bye on Friday. In the loss to H-J, Kacey LeBlanc led the Lady Bobcats with eight points and three steals. Morgan Moss had seven points and four rebounds while Priscilla Garza had six points and four rebounds.
The Bridge City Lady Cardinals (2-2 in 21-3A play), coming off a victory over last-place SIlsbee (0-5 in district) will hit the road to face the Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns (1-3 in district).
In District 20-4A play tonight, the Vidor Lady Pirates (4-1 in district) hosts Beaumont Central (4-1 in district) with the winner grabbing early posession of second-place in the standings.
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears (2-3 in 20-4A play) will look to bounce back from a 38-30 loss to Nederland by welcoming in state-ranked Beaumont Ozen (5-0 in district) to The Bear Cave. Tara Thompson had 15 points to lead the Lady Bears against Nederland while Kayleigh Roy had seven.
Boys games on the docket for this Friday includes Lumberton at LC-M, PN-G at Vidor, Bridge City at Hardin-Jefferson, and Buna at WO-S.
Girls games Friday will pit LC-M at Lumberton, Vidor at PN-G, Hardin-Jefferson at Bridge City, and WO-S at Buna.
