Lady Cougars defeat Lady Bobcats
BUNA — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats started their 2012-13 district schedule in District 21-3A with a loss to the Buna Lady Cougars, 43-42, Tuesday night.
Buna hit a free throw with no time on the clock to finish off the heartbreaking loss for the Lady Bobcats who are now 3-6 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Morgan Moss had 15 points and four rebounds for Orangefield while Morgan Worthy had eight points and four rebounds. Kacey LeBlanc added a three-pointer and five assists.
Orangefield led 19-13 at the break but Buna outscore Orangefield 13-7 in the third period and 17-16 in the fourth.
The JV Lady Bobcats also lost to Buna, 36-31.
Orangefield travels to take part in the Silsbee Tournament this weekend and will play Warren at noon on Thursday.
Cardinals sink Pirates
DEWEYVILLE — Tanner Cervenka’s 23 points, including six three-pointers, came up huge for Bridge City Tuesday night against Deweyville as the Cardinals rolled for a 77-37 win.
Alex Bingham had 12 points while Adrian Schubart added 12 and Byron Bacon finished with 10 points.
The PIrates were led by Greer who had 12 points and got 11 points from Lemen and nine points from Russell.
The Cardinals return to action this weekend in the Deweyville Tournament and opens it up against West Hardin on Thursday.
Bulldogs topple Stangs
NEDERLAND — The Nederland Bulldogs took down the West Orange-Stark Mustangs 62-2 in non-district action at Bulldog Gym Tuesday night.
Laquarious Paige led the Mustangs with 19 points while Brandon Joubert filtered in 12.
Colton Weisbrod powered the Bulldogs with 26 points and nine rebounds while Zack English had 15 points and six boards. The Mustangs will compete in the Nederland Tournament today through Saturday.
PN-G downs Bobcats
PORT NECHES — Port Neches-Groves outscored Orangefield 23-10 in the fourth quarter as the Indians went on to defeat the Bobcats 59-51 at Indian Gym Tuesday night.
Cody Angelle led the Bobcats (4-3) with 14 points while Carl Wiley chimed in with 11.
Brandon Pham led the Indians with 21 points.
