Lady Cardinals turn back Woodville, 31-29

WOODVILLE —  

Getting after the Woodville Lady Eagles on the defensive end, the Bridge City Lady Cardinals picked up a nice 31-29 road win at Eagles Gym Tuesday night.

The Lady Cardinals (4-2) have won four out of their last five games.

Woodville led 8-5 at the end of the first period but BC tied it at 18-18 at the half. The Lady Cardinals led 23-20 going to the fourth period and held on for the victory.

Freshman guard Bailee Bacon led the Lady Cardinals with 13 points.

Alexus Henry filtered in nine points while Caylin Choate had six. Choate was a “terror” on the defensive end, collecting 12 steals. Harleigh Myers led BC with eight rebounds while Ashlyn Ellison added six.

The  Lady Cardinals stormed to a second-place finish at the Warren Tournament last Saturday.

The Lady Cardinals advanced to the title game where they fell to Evadale.

Bridge City defeated Warren 43-32 with   scoring 14 and pulling down 10 rebounds, Kasey Frederick and  Myers both scored 8. 

The Lady Cardinals also downed District 21-3A rival Silsbee 41-31 with Henry scoring 13. Choate and Myers added eight points apiece. Choate also had seven assists. 

BC also defeated Kountze 58-27 with  Bacon scoring 23 points with 15 of them from the three-point line. Henry scored 15 and had 12 rebounds while Myers scored 11 points and had 8 rebounds. Frederick had 9 rebounds.

The Lady Cardinals return to action Friday when they travel to Hardin with a 4:30 p.m. varsity start.
