Refs forgot what down it was, fans were chanting, two quarterbacks were jawing with each other and in the end the Vidor Pirates won a historic game.
The Pirates walked off the field 42-21 winners Friday night but it was a battle.
Vidor (8-1, 5-1) will go to the playoffs for the second year in a row and for the third time in four years, a first that has happened in Vidor’s history.
“It feels great to accomplish this here at Vidor,” Vidor quarterback Montana Quirante said. “We are bringing a winner’s mentality to Vidor. We do it for the fans and the little kids in the program. That is what it is all about.”
