Lady Bears down WO-S in three

WEST ORANGE — Getting excellent team balance, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears took down the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 25-14, 25-14, 25-15 in non-district volleyball action at Mustang Gym Tuesday night.

Junior Sarah Woods led the LC-M hitting attack as she led the way with 10 kills. She also added four service points and an ace.

Malayzia Winbush chimed in with nine kills and had two points and an ace.

Jade Piper had a solid all-around match for the Lady Bears as she posted seven kills to go along with 10 points and two aces. Maddie Frey also had six kills.

Dayja Arnold paced LC-M with 13 points and had two aces and two kills. Josie West and Kelsey Crowe each contributed seven points and an ace while Casidy Webster had three points and an ace while Emalee Carlton added two kills.

Aleah Teel had a tremendous performance for the Lady Mustangs at the net as she finished with 10 kills to go along with six points and an ace.

Daija Roberts collected five kills. Mar’laysia Davis contributed five points and an ace while Markia Davis added two kills.

The Lady Bears swept Port Arthur Memorial 25-23, 25-8, 25-12 earlier on Tuesday.

Woods led the way with 13 kills. Maddie Frey contributed eight while Piper had seven and Tanner and Winbush added five apiece.

Kelsey Crowe had 10 digs while Dayja Arnold had nine and Savannah Borel eight. West led the way with four aces while Crowe had two.

The Lady Bears will compete in the Santa Fe Tournament along with Bridge City Thursday and Saturday and will host Beaumont West Brook Friday.

The Lady Mustangs will visit Beaumont Central Friday.
