Pirates edge Bears to force play-in game


The Vidor Pirates forced a one-game playoff for the fourth-place playoff spot by defeating Little Cypress-Mauriceville 6-5 in 10 innings late Friday night at Pirate Field.

The two finished tied for fourth with 8-6 20-4A marks.

They will play today at 1 p.m. at Vidor.

In the bottom of the 10, Vidor’s Paul Fregia got all the way to second base on a LC-M throwing error. Fregia took third on a wild pitch and two batters later Wesley Parks had a RBI fielder’s choice for the game-winner.

LC-M pitcher James Swan went 7 1/3 innings in relief and strck out 10 Vidor batters and only allowed two hits.

Colby Sciarrilla pitched five innings of relief, striking out nine Bears to get the win.

Shea Richards scored two runs for the Bears. Brandon Humphrey had a double and a RBI. Julian Edwards had two RBI.

Dalton Croft scored two runs for the Pirates. Vidor scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 5-5.
