Lady Cards down PN-G in opener

PORT NECHES — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals got off to a high flying start to their basketball season Tuesday night by defeating the Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians 56-48.

Bailee Bacon led the Lady Cardinals (1-0) with 20 points. She connected on three three-pointers and had six steals and four assists.

Post Kelsey Fults contributed a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds and added four assists and four steals.

Kasey Frederick had six points, seven rebounds and two steals. Shayla Bratton had six points and a pair of steals and Harleigh Myers had four rebounds.

The Lady Cardinals return to action Saturday when they visit Little Cypress-Mauriceville at noon.

Other girls action for next week includes LC-M hosting Hardin-Jefferson Tuesday while Orangefield visits Beaumont West Brook and Bridge City travels to Woodville while West Orange-Stark welcomes in Vidor.

LC-M and WO-S will both be competing in the Hardin-Jefferson Tournament Thursday through Saturday while Orangefield will host Big Sandy on Friday.
