VIDOR — The Orangefield Bobcats won with some dramatics for the second straight night to clinch a sweep of their Class 3A Region III bidistrict series against the Tarkington Longhorns Friday night at Vidor High School.

The Bobcats scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to turn back the Longhorns 3-2 to nab the series.

With two runners on, Tryce Howard hit a pop-up to second base that was dropped as Matthew Kress darted home to score the game-winning run.

Braxton Smith pitched a complete-game to earn the win on the hill in yet another supreme effort.

The Bobcats now move on to face District 23-3A champion Houston Furr in the area round next week.

The Bobcats earned a dramatic win in Game One of the series Thursday night, winning 6-5 in eight innings at New Caney.

Blake Permenter plated Braxton Smith for the winning run.

Ryan Gunstream notched the win in relief for the Bobcats.

The Bobcats rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the sixth, scoring a run apiece in both the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings.
