Bradley, Lady Bobcats topple Liberty


Kylie Bradley hit a game-winning grand slam in the top of the seventh inning to help get the Orangefield Lady Bobcats past the Liberty Lady Panthers 6-5 as the Lady Bobcats advance on the Class 3A Region III area round of the playoffs.

The Lady Bobcats trailed 3-2 entering the seventh and then Granger crushed the game-winner. 

The Lady Panthers scrapped for two runs in the bottom of the seventh but the Lady Bobcats were able to hang on for the win.

The Lady Bobcats will take on District 23-3A champion Houston Furr next week in the area round.

In other playoff action Friday night, Barbers Hill eliminated the Vidor Lady Pirates, winning Game One 3-0 and Game Two 9-1.

Nederland knocked out Crosby, winning Game One 4-1 and taking Game Two 5-2 in eight innings. New Caney defeated Port Neches-Groves 11-1 in Game One of that series.

District 21-3A runnerup Silsbee defeated Splendora 3-0 in a one-gamer.

Also, District 21-3A champion Bridge City has its area round series set for next week.

The Lady Cardinals will take on Sweeny in a best-of-three series at Baytown Lee High School.

Game One is Friday at 6 p.m. Game Two is 30 minutes after Game One. Game Three, if necessary, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday.
