The Orange Leader
LITTLE CYPRESS —
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears had a cakewalk Friday, downing the Beaumont Central Lady Jaguars 16-1 in four innings in District 20-4A action at Lady Bear Field.
The win pushes the Lady Bears to 27-4 on the season, but more importantly, to a perfect 13-0 in 20-4A play with one game left.
The Lady Bears will visit Orange County rival Vidor Tuesday before jumping back into their familiar spot, the playoffs. LC-M advanced all the way to the 4A Region III Finals last year.
The last-place Lady Jaguars (0-13) offered little resistance as the Lady Bears pounded out 14 hits. Kassie James led the hit parade by crushing three doubles.
The Lady Bears scored six runs in the bottom of the first.
The big runs came on RBI doubles by James and Danielle DeRamus and Raven Cole had a RBI single.
The Lady Bears tallied eight runs on four hits in the second inning.
Taylor Fraccastoro had a RBI double to center and Alisha Fuss, who had three hits, drove in a run with a single.
LC-M tacked on a run in the third when Hope Russell singled and scored off a Shelby Lebouef single to left.
LC-M added its last run in the fourth when James doubled to center and scored off a Fuss single to left.
Russell got another win on the LC-M mound, going two innings without allowing a hit while striking out one. The Lady Bears unleashed their “secret weapon” on the mound the last two innings as James came in to relieve. She allowed one hit and two walks but she also mowed down six Lady Jaguars.
