Lady Bears to battle Central for 3rd Friday

LITTLE CYPRESS — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears fell to the Lumberton Lady Raiders 74-47 in District 20-4A play Tuesday night.

The Lady Bears finish district play tied with the Central Lady Jaguars for third-place with a 9-5 record, a great turnaround from last year’s 5-9 record and fifth place finish.  The two teams will play Friday night at  6 p.m. before the LC-M vs Central boys game at the Central boys’ gym in Beaumont.  LC-M beat the Lady Jaguars 4-39 on the opening night of district at home.  Central beat the Lady Bears 59-50 on Jan. 14 in Beaumont.

Against Lumberton, Tori Thompson led the Lady Bears with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Josie Nimitz and Malayzia Winbush added nine points apiece.

The Lady Bears will play Summer Creek or Barbers Hill next week in the bi-district round of the playoffs.

H-J boys 84, BC 45

SOUR LAKE — The Bridge City Cardinals fell to the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks 84-45 in District 21-3A action at Hawks Gym Tuesday night.

Ryan Mirabella led the Cardinals with 12 points while Graydon Glover and Alex Bingham scored eight points apiece.

Zjori Bosha led the Hawks with 23 points.
