Lady Cards rip H-J to net 30th win

BRIDGE CITY — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals finished their regular season in style, recording their 30th win of the season by spanking the Hardin-Jefferson Lady Hawks 56-42 in District 21-3A play at Cardinal Gym.

Lady Cardinal post Kelsey Fults stepped outside Friday night and buried four three-pointers as she led Bridge City (30-5, 10-2) with 16 points. She also found time to yank down 13 rebounds.

Bailee Bacon chimed in with 14 points, six assists and three steals. Alexus Henry collected 11 points and had four steals. Kasey Frederick had seven points and collected seven rebounds while guard Caylin Choate had five assists and four steals.

The Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the first period and led 27-16 at the half and 44-26 after three periods.

Morgan Broussard led the Lady Hawks with 18 points.

The Lady Cardinals, runnerups out of 21-3A, will face Liberty, the third-place team out of District 22-3A Monday or Tuesday of next week.
