Bridge City grabbed two more runs in the top of the fifth as Keaton Langston led the inning off with a double to left field. Langston then took third on a wild pitch.
Sampere picked up a RBI with a single to left field to score Langston and give Bridge City a 2-0 lead.
Sampere quickly stole second and took third on a throwing error. Shugart did his job and scored Sampere on a RBI ground out to make it 3-0 Cardinals.
Shepherd had their most productive inning of the game in the top of the fifth inning.
Tyler Schlittenhardt was the first base runner of the night for the Pirates as he hit a one out single to center field. Schlittenhardt stole second and eventually came in to score on a Bridge City error when Cody Crowder collected Shepherd's second hit in a row.
Guidry ended any thought of the rally by picking up strike outs No. 9 and 10 to end the inning.
The last run of the night came off the bat of a guy who had two of the best defensive plays of the game, one which he dove over the rail in foul territory past first base.
Nick Portacci smacked a homer to left field in the top of the sixth inning to give the Cardinals the final 4-1 score.
Guidry ended the game with three straight strike outs.
Bridge City's march into the playoffs has no room for error next week as the Cardinals will once again face the Class 3A No. 1 team. This year it will be Sweeny's turn to meet Bridge City.
Last year the Cardinals were eliminated by the No. 1 Robinson Rockets.
