Both BC squads win on Saturday


The Bridge City Lady Cardinals received a nice challenge from the Buna Lady Cougars before they pulled out a 4-3 victory at Lady Cardinal Field Saturday to keep themselves in second-place in the District 21-3A standings.

Kellyn Cormier got the win on the hill for Bridge City (8-1 in 21-3A play). She scattered eight hits while striking out four.. She also had a double and drove in a run.

Bailee Thibodeaux put together two hits and two RBI. Anne Borg had a double and drove in a run. Kelsey Fults had a single and scored.

Bailee Bacon had a single while Kaleigh Carter and Kasey Frederick each scored a run.

The Lady Cardinals will have a bye Tuesday before they head to first-place Silsbee in a showdown Friday.


BC baseball 5, Buna 1

BRIDGE CITY - The Bridge City Cardinals got a home run from Hayden Guidry and great pitching from Preston Pittman and Chase Shugart Saturday to beat Buna, 5-1.

Pittman struck out two batters and allowed only three hits in five innings while Shugart hurled two innings and struck out four.

Hunter Uzzle, Keaton Langston, Nick Portacci and Blaine McElduff all scored for the Cardinals who rallied after Buna went up 1-0 after the first inning.

Bridge City tied the game in the third then scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
