WEST ORANGE — West Orange-Stark's defense was good enough all year to be one of the best defenses in the state and that is counting every classification, not just Class 3A.

The defense shut out eight opponents this year, five came in a row, yet no player from the Mustangs made the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors Class 3A all-state first or second teams.

WO-S though was honored to have four players named to the Honorable Mention list for the squad.

The Mustangs' season came to an end in the regional finals against Navasota. Opponents averaged a slim 145.6 yards and 5.7 points a game against West Orange-Stark this year.

Silsbee quarterback Patrick Reed was named to the Honorable Mention list and so was Silsbee defensive lineman Seth Adams.

Huffman Hargrave senior quarterback Preston Townley was named to the second team of the all-state list.

A total of seven Navasota players graced the first and second teams. Receivers Austin Collins and Solomon McGinity took both receiver spots on the first team while quarterback Kadarius Baker took the top honor in his position.
