Lady Bears take 4 of 5 in Waco

LITTLE CYPRESS — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears captured four of five games at the Waco Tournament over the weekend.

The Lady Bears defeated Mart 15-4 and A&M Consolidated 13-3 last Thursday.

On Friday, LC-M defeated LD Bell 5-3.

Hope Russell worked five innings, allowing just two hits while striking out 10.

LC-M managed seven hits.

Taylor Fraccastoro was 2-for-2 with a double and a RBI while Russell went 2-for-2. Morgan Babineaux had a hit and two RBI while Haley Mills and Blythe Ferguson drove in a run apiece.

The Lady Bears turned around and beat China Spring 7-6.

Russell went the distance, allowing eight hits while fanning eight.

Alisha Fuss and Blythe Ferguson each hit home runs and combined for three hits and five RBI.

LC-M dropped a 5-1 decision to West on Saturday.

Russell allowed just seven hits over six innings while the Lady Bears were held to six hits. Babineaux scored the lone run on a Angel Villanueva RBI.

The Lady Bears host Livingston Tuesday night to open up District 20-4A play and will head to the College Station Tournament starting Thursday.
