Using a big six-run fourth inning, the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears belted the Beaumont Ozen Lady Panthers 12-2 in District 20-4A action at Lady Panther Field Tuesday afternoon.
LC-M pitcher Hope Russell improved to 9-0 for the season. She scattered four hits while striking out 12 and walking none and did not give up any earned runs.
The Lady Bears (18-4, 4-0) pounded out 10 hits in the victory.
Chelsea McLain continued her hot streak at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and two runs scored and had a triple. Russell was 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored one and had a double.
Kassie James went 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored and a double. Kayleigh Roy was 1-for-5 with a RBI and two runs scored. Morgan Babineaux went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored along with a double. Angel Villanueva was 1-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored while Raven Cole and Shelby LeBeouf each scored a run.
The Lady Bears will return to 20-4A play Friday when they play host to the Lumberton Lady Raiders with the varsity game starting around 1:30 p.m.
In other 20-4A action Tuesday Port Neches-Groves took down Nederland 7-3 and Livingston toppled Lumberton 4-1.
Lady Cards edge Buna
BUNA — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to turn back the Buna Lady Cougars 9-6 to improve to a perfect 3-0 in District 21-3A play.
Kellyn Cormier got the win on the mound for the Lady Cardinals.
Kelsey Fults had a huge outing at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four runs batted in.
The Lady Cardinals return to action Tuesday when they play host to the Silsbee Lady Tigers, who also sport a 3-0 21-3A mark.
Silsbee defeated Orangefield (1-2) 5-3 in a grueling nine-inning affair Tuesday.
Orangefield will visit Hamshire-Fannett Friday and will host Hardin-Jefferson next Tuesday.
