HOOP WRAP: Holmes, Tigers outlast Mustangs, 79-72


WEST ORANGE — LC-M tops Vidor

LITTLE CYPRESS — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears netted their first District 20-4A victory of the season, downing the Vidor Pirates 65-50 at The Bear Cave Friday night.

Christian Wendt had a big game for the Bears (10-16, 1-6), scoring 23 points.

Jace Robertson had 13 points for the Bears while Taylor Peveto filtered in 10 and Teondre Gant added nine.

Billy Hall led the Pirates (5-17, 0-7) with 13 points.

The Bears led 17-8 at the end of the first period and led 33-21 going into intermission.

The Bears will play host to Livingston Tuesday while the Pirates travel to Nederland.

OF downs BC

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Bobcats, using a superb defensive effort, downed rival Bridge City 55-32 in District 21-3A play at Bobcat Gym Friday night.

The Bobcats (14-8, 3-3) led 18-16 at the half but pulled away from the Cardinals (10-14, 1-5) with a 16-7 spurt in the third period.

Eric Truncale had 10 points and four assists for the Bobcats. Luke Johnson contributed eight points and eight rebounds. Carl Wiley had seven points and seven rebounds while Levi Shores added five points and five rebounds.

Post Alex Bingham led the Cardinal attack with 18 points.

The Bobcats will welcome in Silsbee Tuesday while the Cardinals travel to Buna.
