On Saturday, both Bridge City and Orangefield sent powerlifters to the Regional Meet in Cleveland to wrap up an excellent season.
Orangefield’s Jerrod Watkins punched his ticket to the State Meet as he finished second in the 242-pound class by lifting a total of 1,410 pounds.
Orangefield’s Wesley Reed was fourth in the 123-pound division. Bobcat Bryan Lopez was sixth in the 242-pound class and teammate Adam Jacobs was seventh in the 242-pound class.
For Bridge City, Jacob Trahan barely missed going to State as he finished third in the 132-pound class by lifting 930 pounds. Cardinal Colt Poole was seventh in the 181-pound class by lifting a total of 1,070 pounds.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School senior Beth Irwin won First Place in the Girl's “A” singles division of the 25th Annual Orange County Tennis Tournament. She defeated Silsbee, PN-G, and then Vidor in the finals to win the gold medal.
Junior Chris Schilz also earned a medal, finishing second in "B" Singles at the tournament.
Two Orange County girls will participate for the Kelly Lady Bulldogs soccer team in the Elite Eight TAPPS State Tournament.
Both Madeleine Fuller and McKenna Morris, both sophomores on defense, helped the Lady Bulldogs to a TAPPS Division I District 3 title.
The Lady Bulldogs defeated Trinity Christian in their first playoff game to advance to the tourney.
The Lady Bulldogs took on Plano John Paul II in the tournament late last night.
