Russell, Lady Bears silence Livingston

LIVINGSTON — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears kicked off the second half of District 20-4A softball play with a 3-0 shutout against the Livingston Lady Lions Tuesday night at Lady Lions Field.

Hits were hard to come by for both teams as Lady Bear ace Hope Russell matched Livingston ace Hallie SMith pitch-for-pitch.

Russell worked all seven innings to net the win. She allowed a mere four hits while striking out 10 and walking none.

Smith went the distance for the Lady Lions, allowing seven hits and had 11 strikeouts and just one walk.

Taylor Fraccastoro was 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Bears (19-5, 6-2) and drove in a run. Haley Mills was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Mikaela Stegall was 2-for-4. Blythe Ferguson was 1-for-3 with a RBI and Chelsy White scored a run.

Haley Mclendon was 2-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Lions (3-5 in district).

The Lady Bears will play host to Port Neches-Groves Friday.
