BC boys, OF girls golfers heading to 3A regionals

WILDWOOD —  Both the Bridge City Cardinals and the Orangefield Lady Bobcats quailified for the Class 3A Region III Golf Tournament by placing second at the District 21-3A Golf Championships at Wildwood Tuesday.

The Hardin-Jefferson boys won the team title with a 692 (344-348) while Bridge City netted second with a 724 (359-365).

The Silsbee Lady Tigers won the girls field with a 903 (459-444) with the Lady Bobcats taking second with a 915 (455-460).

On the boys’ side, Orangefield was third with a 743 (365-378) followed by Buna (386-393-779), Hamshire-Fannett (395-394-789) and Silsbee (419-448-867).

The H-J girls claimed third with a 935 (467-428) followed by H-F (505, 501-1,006), Bridge City (523-507-1,030) and the Silsbee B Team (565-559-1,124).

H-J’s Ryan Mireles took top medalist honors in the boys field with a 160 (81-79). Bridge City’s Skylar Petroski was second with a 169 (80-89) and Orangefield’s Cameron Duhon punched his way to regionals by finishing third with a 170 (83-87).

Petroski led the Cardinals and was followed by teammates David Hearn (85-88-173), Conner Guillotte (98-88-186), Justin Smith (96-100-196) and Aaron Myers (146-138-284).

Duhon paced the Bobcats and was followed by teammates Tanner Holland (86-92-178), Matthew Kress (89-93-182), Eric Trucale (107-109-216) and Dane Risinger (115-106-221).

Ashton Gatreaux led the balanced Lady Bobcats with a 222 (109-113) followed by teammates Rylie Granger (109-114-223), Macy Hamilton (115-109-224), Maggie Hebert (122-124-246) and Megan Burton (125-128-253).

Kellyn Cormier paced Bridge City with a 234 (122-112) followed by teammates Anna Carpenter (134-127-261), Bailee Moore (129-133-262), Hanna Primm (133-135-268), and Trinity King (140-142-282).

The Class 3A Region III Golf Championships will be held Apr. 17-18 at The Village Golf Club in Willis.

ANAHUAC —The Little Cypress-Mauriceville boys golf team claimed the crown at the Anahuac Invitational at the Chambers County Golf Course.

The Bears fired a great team score of 315.

James Walker won his third tournament of the season by firing a 75. He was followed by teammates Tyler Freeman (79), Ryan Keszeg (79), Tyler Ridgaway (82) and Reese Soliz (96).
