Weather slows down BC-WO-S will resume Saturday at 7 p.m.

BRIDGE CITY — Weather got the best of the District 21-3A baseball showdown between the Bridge City Cardinals and the West Orange-Stark Mustangs Friday night at Cardinal Field.
The game was called off in the top of the fifth inning with the Cardinals leading 2-0 as both Bridge City pitcher Chase Shugart and WO-S hurler Aidan Anderson were both pitching pretty well as a heavy fog rolled in.
The game will be finished Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Cardinals (14-2-2, 4-0) struck for two runs in the bottom of the first off Mustang starter Aidan Anderson.
Hunter Uzzle was hit by a pitch and Shugart provided the power, stroking a two-run home run blast. Kyle Bergeron stroked a double but was left on the basepaths.
The Mustangs (16-1, 4-0) left the bases loaded in the top of the second.
With one out, Cameron Williams was hit by a Shugart pitch. With two outs, Jacob Hryhorchuk and Jack Dallas drew back-to-back walks but Shugart, who had three strikeouts in the inning, got out of a possible jam by striking out Tanner Hogan.
Blaine Huff had a single for the Cardinals in the second inning. Aidan Anderson had a single to right for the Mustangs in the top of the third.
Shugart had allowed just one hit while striking out five and walking three. Anderson allowed three hits while also striking out five while walking three.
The Cardinals return to action Monday at 4:30 p.m. when they visit Orangefield while the Mustangs will go back home to face Silsbee at 4:30 p.m.
