LITTLE CYPRESS —
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears bounced back nicely from a tough road loss to Nederland Saturday by taking down the Beaumont Ozen Lady Panthers 10-0 in six innings in District 20-4A action at Lady Bear Field Monday afternoon.
After dropping a 2-1 13-inning decision to Nederland, LC-M dominated the Lady Panthers as Coach Dena Adkins used everyone on the roster.
Third baseman Blythe Ferguson led the Lady Bears (16-4, 3-1) at the plate. She had a solo home run over the centerfield fence in the third inning and drove in two more runs as well.
Leadoff hitter and shortstop Haley Mills roped a pair of doubles and scored twice.
First baseman Alisha Fuss slapped a two-run single in the bottom of the first frame.
Mills had a double to left that scored teammate Caitlin Currie in the fourth frme.
LC-M tacked on four runs in the bottom of the sixth, three coming on errors and one more on a RBI groundout by Ferguson.
Hope Russell started on the mound for LC-M. She pitched one inning, allowing one hit and one walk. Chelsy White worked the final five innings, allowing three hits while striking out five and walking one.
The Lady Bears return to action Tuesday when they visit Lumberton for 1:30 p.m. varsity start.
