GIRLS HOOP WRAP: Lady Cats edge out WO-S

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats closed out the first half of District 21-3A with their first district win as they downed the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 41-40 at Bobcat Gym Tuesday night.

The Lady Bobcats (7-16, 1-5) led the Lady Mustangs (11-10, 1-4) 23-15 at the half and then held on for the victory.

WO-S cut it to 29-25 at the end of the third and fell just short of the comeback.

Brandy Ehrlich led the Lady Bobcats with 12 points. Priscilla Garza colected 10 points and seven rebounds. Maddy Ousely contributed five points while Sabryn Crain hauled down seven boards.

The Orangefield win offset a superb perforamnce by Lady Mustang Eriel HJordan, who filtered in a game-high 23 points. Derriasha Daughtery added seven points for WO-S.

The Lady Mustangs return to action Friday when they play host to Buna while the Lady Bobcats have a bye and will travel to Buna next Tuesday.

H-F girls 56, BC 45

BRIDGE CITY — The Hamshire-Fannett Lady Longhorns took over first-place in District 21-3A by downing the Bridge City Lady Cardinals 56-45 at Cardinal Gym Tuesday night.

The Lady Longhorns (21-5, 5-0) outscored the Lady Cardinals (23-4, 4-1) 29-20 in the first half and expanded their lead to 45-32 entering the final period and were able to fend off BC to take over first-place by themselves.

Kasey Frederick led the Lady Cardinalos with 13 points and also had nine rebounds. Kelsey Fults chimed in with a double-double, scoring 12 points while yanking down 15 rebounds. Shayla Bratton added seven points while Alexus Henry had five.

The Lady Cardinalos will venture to Sour Lake to take on Hardin-Jefferson Friday.
